There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is prohibited. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent destination, a 3 to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing capital gained from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls constraints for casino ownership. Ownership is required to be mainly Thai; however, financial sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and despite the fact visas are for all intents and purposes necessary to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most borders.

The first Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling den, contains 150 slots and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel complex that features many conveniences in addition to the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
