There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just over the border from neighboring Thailand, in which gambling den betting is not legal. Eight casinos are situated in a relatively tiny space in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect destination, a three to 4 hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a few Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is presumed to be mostly Thai; still, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is correct of most borders.

The initial Cambodia casinos premiered in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored barge gambling den, contains 150 slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat banque, four tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of one hundred and fifty slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slot machine games and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety six table games, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight gambling halls in Poipet, again in a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel compound that highlights numerous luxuries accompanying the gambling den, which offers 10,000 sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight tables.
